I am at the forefront of automotive innovation, and continuously working on something new
For my first role out of university, I was specifically looking for agraduate programmeand Expleo was able to offer me that. Expleo also had a good relationship with my university, supporting the Formula Student project we took part in each year – a competition for undergraduates on a local and global level to design, build, test and race small-scale Formula 1 style racing cars.
My role as a graduate engineer within theautomotivedivision of Expleo has developed considerably in a short amount of time and has supported my IMechE chartership status. I have been involved in a wide variety of projects from prototyping new client ideas to releasing new vehicles to the Chinese market. One of the clients I work with is continuously looking for ways to improve and develop their current vehicle programmes, including electrical, body, chassis and powertrain. The automotive industry grows rapidly, so we are always working on something new and thinking boldly. I am lucky to be part of this industry transformation.
The team I work with are incredibly supportive and I have been provided some great opportunities very early on in mycareer, particularly the chance to be a Design & Release Engineer. I am always confident that my ideas will be considered and explored, and my abilities are always recognised.
I have also undertaken a lot of training as part of the Graduate Scheme, including improving my presentation, negotiation and project management skills. The new skills I have acquired have been invaluable when liaising with customers. I can already see some exciting prospects on the horizon at Expleo and I look forward to seeing where I am in 12 months’ time.
